Splitter Orchester X Maulwerker @ Ensemblefest Berlin
A very special collaboration is coming up very soon: Splitter Orchester will collaborate for the first time ever with vocal performer ensemble Maulwerker on the occasion of the first edition of Ensemblefest Berlin. Christian Kesten's composition Tektonische Verschiebungen is inspired by photographs of geological faults - tectonics are not interpreted as graphic notation, but rather as a source from which specific sounds, timbres, playing techniques and harmonies are derived. In the piece, the electro-acoustic instrumental sound of Splitter Orchester merges with the sustained textures of Maulwerker's vocal noise fields, making tectonic upheavals audible and literally causing the ground to shake.
