Sick of Fear is a video/sound installation and a live performance at the Sternschuppen Pavillion of Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxembourg Platz.

In Sick of Fear, Alexey explores fear at the level of the ‘in-depth’ body. The body becomes an object, and the Pavilion turns into an extension of the body — an organ or a cell. Both appear vulnerable to contagion. In this way, the stigma of illness is confronted, and the causes of fear, which often remain hidden, are brought to the surface.

At 16:00 each day of exhibition, Alexey begins a three-hour sound and voice performance, during which he ‘contaminates’ and ‘purifies’ the windows of the Sternschuppen Pavilion, over and over again.

At 19:00, Alexey begins a 40-minute voice performance that explores Alexey’s memories of illness in his family, as well as his own personal experience of receiving a life-changing diagnosis. By assembling sounds of cleaning windows, extended vocal techniques and original texts Alexey creates an original composition, a song about fear of being infected.
